Vaidya Kailas - Ayurvedic Practitioner in Los Angeles
Kailas is a spiritual heir to the Ayurvedic and Nature Cure lineages of Mahatma Gandhi through his gurus, Light Miller and Bryan Miller, who helped start Ayurveda in the United States. Light and Bryan recognized in Kailas many previous lifetimes of study and practice in the healing arts and transmitted to him the spiritual essence of their lineage as well as the fruits of their pioneering experience in adapting Ayurveda to the West.
Currently Kailas is in private practice in Ayurveda in Los Angeles, where he gives Ayurvedic Consultations, herbal and dietary recommendations, Ayurvedic therapies including Abhyanga and Panchakarma, and incorporates Vedic Astrology into the healing process to determine the effects of karma and how to transform karmic patterns.
In addition to being a healer, Kailas is the founder of SensibleHerbs.com an online discount herb and supplement shop. He is also a consultant to film and television on Ayurvedic medicine and has appeared on E! News, Veria TV, and the Los Angeles Times.
Kailas practices Ayurveda as spiritual healing which includes all aspects of Mother Nature from the smallest gene to the farthest star. His goal is to help each person empower themselves in self-healing, because everyone has an inner self-repairing intelligence that simply has to be "sparked" into the right direction through wisdom, love, and supportive factors such as the right herbs, diet and remedies.
Kailas was personally certified by Dr. John E. Upledger, DO, in Craniosacral Therapy at the Upledger Institute. He also received teachings in Chinese Medicine from Ken Coles, one of the first Western practitioners of Acupuncture in the United States.
Kailas is passionate about Hindu and Buddhist philosophy and practices. He has studied for 30 years with many gurus including Amma Sri Karunamayi, Mata Amritanandamayi, Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda Saraswati, and Traktung Yeshe Dorje. Kailas has received additional guidance and darshan from Sri Viswamji Viswayogi, Mother Meera, Brother David Steindl-Rast, Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, Rabbi Zalman Schacter-Shalomi, and Zen-ji Jay Pinsky. Kailas was introduced to Ayurveda in 1987 by his first Ayurvedic spiritual father, Tridandipad Sripad Bhagavat Swami.
Kailas has also studied Sanskrit with Adolph Vishnu Shastri von Wurttemburg and Yoga with Panna Flower, Adele Gale, and Pagan George.
