What is acidity?

The function of lower esophageal sphincter, also known as LES, is to keep the stomach acid in the stomach. The lower esophageal sphincter is located below the rib cage on the left where the esophagus meets the stomach. This LES opens up normally and allows the food into the stomach and then closes again. If this LES opens and does not close tight enough as it should, then it can cause, stomach acid reflux, or seep into the stomach which in turn causes burning sensation.
