Overview
Acne is a widespread skin disease that affects almost everyone at different times in their lives. It mostly affects people who are in their teens and those women who are in their menopausal ages. Acne can be awkward especially when the pimples delay leaving or become very large. These pimples often leave us with startling scars that may take weeks or even months before going away. When taking care of acne scars, we can use those expensive products that dermatologists and superstores sell. But why go spending your hard earned money for those expensive treatments when you can save it by using home remedies for acne scars that have the same effect.
There are many home remedies for acne scars. It is just a matter of finding one that works for you and being patient enough for them to work. Home remedies range from food items to herbs and spices that can be found in our gardens. Each home remedy differs from other remedies because of their effect and cause. Some are more into doing away with the bacteria causing the acne while some in reducing the inflammation while others give the skin the nutrients it needs to redevelop more rapidly.
Some home remedies for scars can be found in your refrigerator; like those of eggs, herbs, honey, and several spices. Egg whites are recognized to help in acne scar removal. The whites rinse out the skin and give it the essential nutrients to redevelop and drop off those scar tissues. You can also add lemon juice to the egg white for a better effect. Another remedy for the scars is to use honey. Honey contains a lot of beneficial factors. It can reduce the infection because of its anti-bacterial properties. It also reduces the inflammation brought about by the infection. Honey accelerates the skin’s capability to stimulate and therefore is useful in combating off those scars left by acne. Aside from eggs and honey, you may use tomatoes for scar elimination. Tomatoes contain vitamins and have exceptional healing properties that can diminish scars. Eating tomatoes every day can help heal those scratches and decrease the appearance of scars. Eating fruits and vegetables regularly can be beneficial for the body. It helps encourage the body’s immune system, plus it also boosts healing. A very simple way to reduce acne scars is by preventing the items that cause them; such as stress. Remove those unneeded activities that just give you unneeded stress. Or try to modify your activities to reduce stress. Stress is one of the many factors that cause acne. It also reduces the body’s ability to fight off diseases. So by reducing stress, you reduce your chances of developing diseases because of stress. When handling your acne scars, you may not need to spend too much. Home remedies for acne scars can be found in your home. They are scrumptious, promote good health, and boost the immune system; plus they help keep at bay diseases like acne.
Home remedies for acne were being used way back centuries ago. During this time people of different races and civilizations were affected with the acne disease. However every civilization was unique in the herbs and preparation that they were doing to stop or control the spread of the disease.
First in our list of ancient home acne remedies is no other than Aloe Vera; it was popularized by the Egyptians to both care and prevent acne. They did it by rubbing the Aloe Vera extract against the face where acne is there and they did it on a daily basis until the acne disappeared.
Second comes orange and lemon fruit, these fruits both possess some degree of acidity which is always good for bacterial acne related problems. Their acidic content contains some strains of bacteria that can help because acne is killed by the citric acid of those fruits.
The third in the list is the herbal plant leaves of strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries. These leaves restrain the formation of acne on the face and some assert that they also help in reducing the size of the acne. To prepare you need a handful of leaves and a teapot with hot/warm water. You should first clean the leaves and then mix the leaves together with the hot or warm water in the pot, wait for a couple of minutes until the leaf extract is out in the leaves then afterwards you drink it, probably like a green tea.
In older times people attempted to resolve their problems of acne by bathing, washing, or rubbing herbal extracts and leaves into their body. Even though there are a lot of herbs, fruits, or sometimes animal extract that people used to treat acne, there is one type of herbal medicine that caught my attention, tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is an interesting natural remedy for acne because this plant has an enzyme named terpinen-4-ol. This enzyme has anti-bacterial properties which can kill a wide range of pathogens.
The first in line for our herbal home remedies for acne is Peppermint (M. balsamea) this plant has menthol in it which is beneficial to people who are having a hard time eradicating there acne. To prepare you need a handful of peppermint leaves, after which is you wash them to remove the dust or soil that is on the leaves then you crush the leaves with the use of a mortar and pestle or if you don’t have a mortar and pestle, just simply improvise. After crushing the leaves apply the leaves to the area affected with acne, continue rubbing the leaves until you feel pain alleviation in the site, and also remember to do this on daily basis to get the desired result.
The next one is Oatmeal. Oatmeal mixed with honey cleanses the skin therefore preventing the formation of acne in the skin since it absorbs the excess oil on the skin leaving the skin with minimal oil that can’t block the pores. To use this kind of alternative remedy first you need to have a honey. But first remember to cook the oatmeal in a way that it’s edible, after cooking the oatmeal, you mix the honey and oatmeal in one container then let it cool for a couple of minutes so that your face won’t be burn. After you cool the oatmeal with honey you apply it to your body, especially to those places where acne formation is more prone to expand. Then after a while you rinse it immediately with water so that you won’t have a hard time removing it.
Then comes Nettle (Urtica dioica). This plant prevents the formation of acne in any parts of the body. Unlike Peppermint and Oatmeal that is being applied, Nettle leaves extract must be drank. To prepare you first need a handful of nettle leaves, and boiling water. You need to clean the leaves to remove soil, dust, and other insects that are on the leaves. Then fill a teapot with nettle leaves then soak the leaves with boiling water, and then wait for five minutes for the leave extract to mix with the water. After which you can now drink it. It is up to you if you put honey or lemon in the nettle tea to improve its taste and smell.
To conclude using home remedies to treat acne comes with its own set of risks. But compared to chemically generated medicines that are being sold in the market the risk is minimal. As always if you experience an unfavourable reaction upon taking these herbal medicines and home remedies you should cease and seek out a doctor.
