Which Herbs Treat Liver Diseases?

Helpful Information Shared by Dr. Vikram Chauhan (MD-Ayurveda)

Interviewer: Good Afternoon Dr. Vikram

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Good Afternoon

Interviewer: Sir, as you are in garden with us. And it’s full of herbs so please explain us about the herbs available here.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: As I was coming here I was trolling around and I saw this beautiful herb which we usually use in ayurveda. We use it for liver problems, it is very commonly used by ayurvedist world over. Its called Bhringraj. The Latin name of this herb is called is Eclipta Alba. And I want to show you this beautiful herb growing here, see it over here, see this beautiful white flower, small white flower see very small small herb, small plant and here this bhringraj the leaves of this bhringraj, we are using the leaves and the flowers and even the stem everything whole plant is used because this is very small plant and the whole plant contains some active constituents. Which are very useful for liver problems like hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and even jaundice very good to bring the sgot sgpt levels down even works in hepatitis b virus. We use it with other herbs like Phyllanthus, I saw the Phyllanthus also growing here somewhere.

Interviewer: Is it?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Ya we use it along with Phyllanthus and Boerhavia diffusa, see Phyllanthus is growing here. This garden is full of herbal plants. You see this is Phyllanthus, you see small small, it’s called Bhumi Amla in ayurveda so Bhumi Amla is also used along with bhringraj for potentiating the effect on the liver problems. And clears away the jaundice very quickly. So we use this is Phyllanthus and bhringraj.

Interviewer: Ok so these herbs are very useful for all liver disorders.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Ya as I told for liver detoxification commonly people they eat very fast food and all the junk food.

Interviewer: These days it’s very common.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: So bhringraj the Eclipta Alba the whole plant the extract is made, powder is made and this can be used regularly to detoxify the liver.

Interviewer: Are there any Planet Ayurveda products containing these herbs?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Ya we have Yakrit Plihantak Churna. It is a powder. It is a long name Yakrit Plihantak.

Interviewer: Ya it’s a Sanskrit name actually.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Yakrit means liver, pliha means spleen, so Yakrit Plihantak Churna, churna means powder, so it’s a powder of about 8-9 herbs and bhringraj is one of them, Bhumi Amla and Phyllanthus is another herb. There are more like Kutki which are also very good for liver problems. And I have seen wonderful result in people having hepatitis B and c and other types of hepatitis hepatitis a and swollen liver, fatty liver, very good for fatty liver, fatty liver is very common now a days. So these combination of herbs very good for fatty liver.

Interviewer: So how much time required generally for much time it should be used.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Fatty liver goes away within minimum 15 days to 1 month or one and half month. And if there is complicated problem like hepatitis B then it has to be taken for about 6 months to one year. Not less than that, even may take longer also but viral load come down quickly within 2 months uses.

Interviewer: Actually I tried this Phyllanthus few days back in my garden also and it was very bitter. It was tough actually, in the powder form I think it will be very tough, is it available in capsule forms like thing.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Ya capsules are also available, well I use Liver Care Package combination, capsules and this powder also I have made this combination like Phyllanthus and Yakrit Plihantak Churna, in powder form and another capsule form. So all of them can be used together if someone is not really willing to take powder so liver detox capsules are also there can be used. But I have seen practically in complicated cases I recommend the combination capsule tablet, capsules powders together.

Interviewer: Thank you Dr. Vikram.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Thank you very much. But I just found another although we are done with the interview but I just found other herb.

Interviewer: Ok

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Ya there is one more left I just it saw as I was going back. I saw this Punarnava growing here. You see this its a Punarnava beautiful plant. It is small creeper, it creeps on ground and very small leaves and this pink flowers, very small pink flowers so it is as Punarnava as name says Punarnava, punah means again and nava means new so Punarnava as I told you Punarnava means new again it makes the body cells new again. This is mentioned in ayurveda like this.so we ayurvedist we use this Punarnava herb for as a diuretic as a natural diuretic, it not only works like diuretic it helps to rejuvenate the body cells, specially the kidney cells. So kidney as well as liver problems, liver cells. So to remove the excess accumulated fluid in the body we use Punarnava as a natural diuretic. It doesn’t cause any imbalance of electrolytes. Like sodium and potassium electrolytes they remain in balanced stage but this works wonderfully and we can even buy it like people use Lasix and furosemide but Punarnava works like that and clearways the excess fluid from the body.

Interviewer: Ok so patient suffering with Ascites mainly they.

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: It is very common problem with liver and kidney failure problem with people and this Punarnava really works wonderfully.

Interviewer: So is it also available with Planet Ayurveda?

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Ya same products which I mentioned which are containing this Bhumi Amla, and bhringraj they contain this Punarnava also so I have put 9-10 herbs in that so wonderful product.

Interviewer: Thank you very much Dr. Vikram

Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Thank you
