Interviewer: Good Afternoon Dr. Vikram and thank you very much for bringing us here in this peacock garden, it's a forest area.
Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Very wonderful and peaceful forest.
Interviewer: So today we are going to discuss about kidney failure problem as many patients are suffering these days. There is some how you told me earlier also so please explain us.
Dr. Vikram Chauhan: The cause of Kidney failure in most of the patients is diabetes and the blood pressure. In most of the patients, approx. 90% of cases of kidney failure is caused by diabetes & blood pressure. If you are suffering from the diabetes and it's not controlled and if you are suffering from blood pressure and it is silent blood pressure specially, and it is not controlled for 10 years, 15 years or 20 years then sometimes creatinine starts to elevate. The urea and creatinine are the two bad chemicals, considered to be toxic which are filtered by the kidney and need to be thrown out of the body. So kidneys filter these two chemicals, and if kidney is not functioning properly, and if blood pressure and diabetes are not controlled then this creatinine level and urea go up. This is called kidney failure. So slowly and slowly it usually goes up from 1.2 to 2 then 3, 4, then 5 and then 10 and then there is requirement of dialysis. Dialysis is done when kidney is not functioning. But there are certain ayurvedic herbs. It is a very good news for kidney patient that there are certain ayurvedic herbs which can reduce the urea and creatinine levels which help to control formation of urea and eliminate the urea and creatinine from the blood. So these few kidney herbs are chakori leaves (Cichorium intybus) Kasni, I use punarnava. I use this pine bark, I use this bhumi amla, kalmegh these are the mainly detoxifiers. I have made combination called Rencure, Mutrakrichantak Churna, so Mutrakrichantak Churna is a classical ayurvedic formulation. It is a combination of various herbs. Gokshura is another herb which is very useful for kidney failure patients. It helps to keep the urea and creatinine levels in control and reduce them and in many cases dialysis can be avoided. We get a lot of time for the patients who is immediately advised to renal transplant they get chance to avoid transplant. So they get enough time so they can get time to think over. May be one year, two years, three years, transplant can be avoided and dialysis is avoided.
Interviewer: So this can be reversed, this kidney failure.
Dr. Vikram Chauhan: This urea and creatinine can be reversed. This is very wonderful news.
Interviewer: These days researches about pine tree is using in kidney failure. Can you explain why this saral tree is known.
Dr. Vikram Chauhan: This is saral which is a very wonderful tree and I use it in my formulations. It's called saral in Sanskrit language. In ancient ayurveda it is described as very good for kidney problems. So along with other herbs I use saral also this pine bark. Pine is growing everywhere. The bark of tree you see it is very sturdy. Nature has made it to bear the stress, the stress of the weather. So it is able to handle cumbersome and very difficult weather also. We use bark of this tree and the extract of that pine bark is used to make tablets called pine bark tablets. I use the pine bark tablets in second stage of the kidney failure. So in CKD 5 they call it fifth stage of the kidney failure. They call this the second stage, usually at first stage I use the basic herbs. Punarnava, Kasni, and chakori and other diuretics and some urea creatinine controllers. In first stage, when creatinine level is below 5 or 7 I use the first stage herbs and in advanced stages of above 7 or above 10, I use the advance treatment so pine bark comes in the advanced stages of the kidney failure. It helps to control the advanced stages and helps to avoid the dialysis. So you can show this tree which is growing there in the forest.
Interviewer: Ok it is a beautiful big tree. So this tree bark is used. So Dr. Vikram for kidney patients, for how many months they need to use this to avoid dialysis or kidney transplant?
Dr. Vikram Chauhan: This should be used for about …it should be used regularly and it should not like that used for one or two months. It has to be used regularly. It's like supplement. Along with any ongoing treatment whatever you are taking you should incorporate this pine bark formula it's Saralghan Vati. I have named this Saralghan Vati. Saral means this pine and ghan means concentrated extract of the bark and vati means the tablet. So Saralghan Vati what I recommend. I recommend combination called Revive Kidney Pack for the kidney failure patients. What in some cases where the situation is very complicated then I add this Saralghan Vati. So Revive Kidney Pack is the basic one which I use for the kidney failure patients.
Interviewer: Ok, thank you very much Dr. Vikram.
Dr. Vikram Chauhan: Thanks.
