A patient with jaundice should eat normal vegetarian diet which is less oily and spicy. Plenty of water should be given to the patient. A person should take liquid diet for first few days. He can take juice of fresh fruits and vegetables. Later on, he can come back to his normal diet. Non-vegetarian diet should be strictly avoided as meat is hard to digest.

Chitrak, Plumbago zeylanica

Chitrak is an herbaceous plant with glabrous stem that are erect, climbing and have numerous stems. This plant grows up to height of 3-4 feet. Leaves are 4cm long, thick, fleshy, sessile, oval and lance-elliptic in shape with hairy margins. Base of the leaf is attenuate and apex is obtuse or acute in shape. Bisexual flowers of this plant are white colored, 10-25cm long and are arranged in terminal and axillary elongated spikes and this plant appears throughout year. Stalked and sticky substance densely covers the calyx. Calyx is totally covered with granular hair and it is capable of killing and trapping insects by secreting sticky mucilage.

Kachnar, Bauhinia Variegata

Kachnar is deciduous tree of small to medium sized height up to 15mt with spreading crown and a short bole. Twigs of the tree are slender, light green, angled, hairy and brownish grey in color. Outer bark is scaly, smooth to slightly fissured and brownish grey in color and inner bark is pinkish in color, fibrous and bitter. Leaves are bi-lobed with minute stipules, ovate to circular, 10-13 nerved and upper surface of leaves are glabrous. Leaves of the plant are just like camel's hoof print. Flowers are reminiscent of showy orchids and have five slightly overlapped and irregular petals of yellow and pinkish purple color.

Guduchi is well known herbaceous vine and glabrous climbing shrub.
