Asrahararishta – Medicinal Properties, Ingredients, Indications, Dosage & More

Introduction

Asrahararishta is a classical Arishta (Fermented Ayurvedic Tonic) formulation. And as its name suggests, ‘Asra’ means ‘Blood’ and ‘Har’ means ‘Relieving’, therefore it is beneficial in relieving disorders/diseases with excessive bleeding. Moreover, it focuses on restoring balance, strengthening the body, and replenishing depleted tissues. Conditions such as Raktapitta (Bleeding disorders), excessive menstrual bleeding, and blood loss associated with chronic illnesses often lead to weakness, fatigue, and gradual deterioration of bodily strength. It addresses this and rebuilds vitality from within.

Description Of Ingredients

1. Mritsanjeevani Sura

It is a classical Asava (Fermented Ayurvedic Tonic) preparation and it contains many potent herbs like Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), Mochras (Bombax ceiba exudate), Lajjalu (Mimosa pudica), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) etc. According to Ayurveda, it is Jeevaniya (Life-promoting), Pushtikara (Nourishing), Balya (Strengthening) and nourishes all our Dhatus (Body Tissues) in chronological order. It should be strictly taken under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner, since its alcohol content is approximately 16%. It is really effective in chronic diseases and helps combat weakness and wasting related to it. It is also useful in reducing excess mucus in airways and promoting free flow of air in the respiratory system.

2. Vishalyakarni Swaras (Eupatorium triplinervis)

It is also called ‘Ayapaan’ in Sanskrit. It is an aromatic herb and its leaves hold many therapeutic benefits. It is Balya (Strengthening) and it acts as Raktastambhak (Hemostatic), according to Ayurveda. It is Tikta (Bitter) & Kashaya (Astringent) in taste, Ushna (Hot) in potency and balances Pitta & Kapha doshas. Its main active constituents are Apayanin, Carotene, Vitamin C etc. It causes local vasoconstriction and promotes coagulation at the bleeding sites. It’s also rich in anti-oxidants, due to which it protects vascular endothelium and reduces capillary fragility.

Method Of Preparation

Take 1 litre of Mritsanjeevani Sura and 1 litre of Vishalyakarni Swaras (Eupatorium triplinervis) and put them in an earthen pot together. Mix them well and cover the mouth of the pot with a cork. Leave it undisturbed in a dark room for a period of 7 days. On the 8th day, filter it and store it in clean glass bottles for future use.

Dosage

10-10 drops, every three hours with 10-10 ml water.
