Gaganasundar Rasa works by strengthening digestive fire, improving intestinal absorption, and stabilizing disturbed bowel movements while simultaneously reducing febrile intensity. Its action helps in eliminating pathogenic factors, correcting ama accumulation, and restoring normal gastrointestinal function. Description of Ingredients
1. Shuddha Sohaga (Borax)
Sohaga is known for its Deepana and Pachana properties, helping to stimulate impaired digestive fire during fever-induced diarrhea. It reduces abdominal pain, bloating, and intestinal fermentation caused by ama. Its Grahi action supports stool binding, while its antimicrobial nature helps control intestinal infection and foul odor associated with acute diarrhea.
2. Purified Hingula (Cinnabar)
Purified Hingula acts as a potent Yogavahi, enhancing the efficacy of companion drugs and ensuring rapid systemic action. In JwarAtisaar, it helps pacify aggravated Vata and Kapha, reduces fever intensity, and stabilizes intestinal function. It also supports metabolic balance and improves drug absorption at very low therapeutic doses.
3. Purified Gandhaka (Sulphur)
Gandhaka is valued for its Krimighna (anti-microbial) and Jwaraghna properties, helping eliminate infectious factors responsible for diarrhea during fever. It aids in detoxification, reduces intestinal inflammation, and supports tissue repair. Its mild Deepana effect improves digestion without aggravating Pitta.
4. Abhraka Bhasma (Calcined Mica)
Abhraka Bhasma functions as a Rasayana and metabolic stabilizer during prolonged or recurrent fever with diarrhea. It strengthens digestive capacity, improves nutrient absorption, and helps prevent weakness and dehydration. Its balancing action supports liver function and aids recovery from chronic or debilitated states of JwarAtisaar.
Method of Preparation (Vidhi)
Take all four drugs in equal quantities (4 tola each) and triturate them in the juice of choti Dudhi (Euphorbia thymifolia) for three days. Thereafter, prepare pills of 1–2 ratti each.
Indications and Clinical Use
- This rasa destroys various types of bleeding disorders, severe Jwaratisara (fever with diarrhea), and Amashoola (pain due to ama), and it improves digestion. When fever is present due to excessive diarrhea, administration of this rasa is highly beneficial.
- When, due to aggravation of pathogenic organisms, inflammation of the intestines occurs resulting in diarrhea, even slight pressure on the abdomen causes pain. In such conditions, fever is also present due to intestinal inflammation. At that time, medicines having anti-parasitic, absorbent, antipyretic, and digestive actions should be administered.
- By consumption of this rasa, disorders caused by pathogens are destroyed, and both Jwaratisara and Raktatisara (bloody diarrhea) are alleviated.
Dietary Instruction
Patients consuming this rasa should be given Buttermilk or goat’s milk in their diet.
Dosage
1 pill, 3–4 times a day, administered along with 2 ratti powder of Ral (Shorea robusta).
