Description Of Ingredients
1. Raw Asafoetida (Hing – Ferula asafoetida)
Raw Hing possesses Ushna Virya (hot potency) and strong Deepana–Pachana properties, helping to digest Ama (toxins), which is a key cause of fever in Ayurveda. It pacifies Vata–Kapha, clears internal obstructions, and supports proper circulation of Agni, thereby assisting in fever resolution.
2. Fine Camphor (Kapur – Cinnamomum camphora)
Kapur is Sheeta in touch but Ushna in effect, helping to quickly reduce excessive body heat and restlessness during fever. Its Tikshna and Vyavayi nature allows rapid systemic action, promoting sweating and relieving congestion associated with febrile conditions.
3. Kasturi (Musk – Moschus moschiferus)
Kasturi acts as a powerful Hridya (cardiotonic) and Pranavaha Srotas stimulant, useful in severe fevers with weakness, delirium, or collapse. Its Ushna, Tikshna, and Sukshma qualities help revive consciousness, support vitality, and stabilize bodily functions during high-grade fevers.
Method Of Preparation
- First, mix Hing and Kapur thoroughly. (The combination of Hing and Kapur produces a suitable binding consistency for making pills.) Then add Kasturi and prepare pills of 1–1 ratti each.
- If pills cannot be formed properly, add 10–20 drops of honey and prepare the pills. Then drop the pills into 64 Prahari Pippali Powder, then immediately store them in a glass container.
- If kept open on a plate until drying, the weight will reduce significantly due to evaporation of Kasturi and Kapur.
Special Instruction
In conditions where Hing is indicated for severe diseases, roasted Hing is generally used. However, in cases of stimulant-related or pulmonary disorders where Hing is indicated, raw Hing provides special benefits. Therefore, the inclusion of raw Hing in this Vati is considered particularly significant.
Indications And Clinical Use
- This Vati is administered in severe fever conditions when symptoms such as confusion, delirium, incoherent speech, throwing off clothes, weakness in hands and feet, repeated rising from bed, and hysteria-like features are present. When required, it may be given every 3 hours.
- In pneumonia, its use helps in breaking down clots, removes thick congestion, and makes sputum thin and loose, allowing it to be expelled easily.
- In cholera, when the patient becomes extremely weak, pulse rate becomes slow, and the hands and feet become cold, this medicine exhibits remarkable effects.
- This Vati induces sweating and reduces excess body heat. By stimulating the respiratory centers, it strengthens and regulates the breathing process. Therefore, it is also beneficial in respiratory disorders.
- In heart diseases, when symptoms such as palpitations, chest pain, restlessness, and dizziness are present, consumption of this Vati provides relief.
- In cold-type fevers, its intake helps to alleviate cold sensation and shivering effectively.
Dosage
1-2 pills administered with water or 2–4 tola of milk or with ginger juice and honey. If the patient is unable to swallow apply the pill mixed with ginger juice and honey on the tongue.
