Reference : Ayurveda Sar Sangrah, Page number – 647

Abstract

In Ayurvedic medicine, Medohar Ark is a time-honored liquid formulation known for its therapeutic action on fat metabolism and systemic detoxification. Prepared through the distillation of Gomutra in a traditional distillation apparatus (Nadika yantra). This Ark works by stimulating digestive fire (Agni), promoting metabolic clarity, and aiding in the elimination of accumulated toxins (Ama). It is especially beneficial in conditions arising from Kapha aggravation, such as excess body weight, swelling, and low digestive strength. Its use extends to managing liver discomfort, blood impurities, low-grade fevers, and urinary imbalances, thereby supporting holistic wellness through natural purification.

Introduction

Medohar Ark is a classical Ayurvedic herbal distillate prepared primarily from Gomutra (cow urine) using traditional distillation methods. It is renowned for its effectiveness in managing obesity (Medovriddhi) and related metabolic disorders, along with detoxifying properties that support liver function and blood health. This formulation helps in reducing foul-smelling sweat, swelling, mild fever, and urinary disorders, making it a versatile remedy in Ayurveda.

Ingredients

  • Gomutra (cow urine)

Description Of The Ingredients

1. Gomutra (cow urine)

It is a potent Ayurvedic bioactive liquid known for its detoxifying, antimicrobial, and metabolism-enhancing properties. It helps reduce excess fat accumulation (Medovriddhi) by improving fat metabolism and supporting digestive fire (Agni). Gomutra effectively controls foul-smelling sweat (Durgandhita Sveda) by balancing Pitta and Kapha doshas and eliminates toxins causing swelling (Shotha). It soothes liver and abdominal pain (Yakrit and Udar Shoola), purifies the blood (Rakta Vikar), helps manage low-grade fever (Mand Jwara), and supports urinary health by regulating disorders like Prameha.

Method Of Preparation

  • Take 20 parts of Gomutra (cow urine) and place it in the traditional distillation apparatus (Nadika yantra)
  • Collect about 10 parts of the ark (distillate)

Medicinal Properties

  • Detoxifies the body, reduces excess fat (Medohara), and purifies the blood (Raktashodhaka).
  • Stimulates digestion and metabolism (Deepana-Pachana) for better nutrient assimilation.
  • Acts as an anti-inflammatory (Shothahara) and helps reduce low-grade fever (Jwarahara).

Indications

  • Medovriddhi (Obesity)
  • Durgandhita Sveda (Foul-smelling sweat)
  • Shotha (Inflammation)
  • Yakrit Shoola (Liver colic)
  • Udar Shoola (Abdominal colic)

  • Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children below 5 years should consult a healthcare provider before using this herbal formulation.

Conclusion

Medohar Ark is an effective Ayurvedic preparation for managing obesity and its related systemic complications. Its detoxifying and metabolism-enhancing properties support liver and blood health, making it valuable in treating chronic conditions like swelling, foul-smelling sweat, and mild fever. With its traditional preparation and natural ingredients, Medohar Ark remains a safe and trusted remedy in Ayurvedic therapeutics.
