Vishnu Taila – Medicinal Properties, Ingredients, Indications, Dosage & More

Introduction

Vishnu Taila is a classical Ayurvedic medicated oil prepared by processing and strengthening herbal roots in sesame oil with milk as the liquid medium. The formulation is traditionally described as a nourishing preparation that supports vitality, stability, and functional strength of the body. It is primarily indicated in disorders caused by aggravated Vata dosha, especially those associated with neuromuscular weakness, degeneration, and reproductive debility. The combination of strengthening roots, milk, and sesame oil produces a deeply penetrating formulation that promotes tissue nourishment and systemic resilience.

Method Of Preparation

All herbal ingredients are cleaned, dried, and powdered separately. The powders are triturated to prepare a smooth herbal paste. Processed sesame oil is taken in a suitable vessel and the prepared paste is added to it. The prescribed quantity of milk is then incorporated into the mixture. The entire combination is heated on mild fire following the classical Sneha Paka method. Continuous stirring is maintained to ensure uniform processing and to prevent adhesion of the herbal paste to the vessel. Heating is continued until the aqueous component evaporates completely and only medicated oil remains in its original quantity. Proper completion is indicated by absence of moisture and characteristic aroma. The oil is filtered while warm and stored in airtight glass containers.
