Introduction

Aamrapallavadi Kashaya, also known as Aruchihara Amra Kashaya, is a classical Ayurvedic decoction indicated for the management of Aruchi (loss of appetite). A decoction prepared from tender mango leaves, mango leaf stalks, Bilva (Aegle marmelos), Laja (puffed rice), Ardraka (Zingiber officinale), Ikshu (Saccharum officinarum), and the stamens of Matulunga (Citrus medica) effectively alleviates Aruchi (loss of appetite).

Ingredients

The following ingredients are taken in equal proportions:

  • Amra Pallava (Mangifera indica) – Tender Mango Leaves
  • Amra Pallava Vrinta (Mangifera indica) – Tender Mango Leaf Stalk
  • Bilva (Aegle marmelos) – Bael Fruit
  • Laja – Puffed Rice (prepared from Oryza sativa)
  • Ardraka (Zingiber officinale) – Fresh Ginger
  • Ikshu (Saccharum officinarum) – Sugarcane
  • Matulunga Kesara (Citrus medica) – Citron Stamens
  • Water – Sixteen times the total quantity of the herbal mixture

Method Of Preparation

The herbal ingredients are cleaned and prepared as coarse material suitable for decoction preparation.

Preparation Procedure

  • Take all ingredients in equal quantities.
  • Add sixteen parts water.
  • Boil over mild heat.
  • Reduce the liquid to one-eighth of its original volume.
  • Filter through a clean cloth.
  • Administer the decoction while lukewarm.

Dose
