Ingredient Description

Shuddha Parad (Purified Mercury)

Shuddha Parad (Purified mercury), exhibits madhura (sweet) rasa, snigdha (unctuous) guna, and ushna virya (heating potency), primarily balancing Vata and Kapha while harmonizing Pitta. It acts as a potent rasayana (rejuvinator) and yogavahi (catalytic adjuvant), enhancing bioavailability of co-ingredients,  its nano-particulate mercury stabilize gastric mucosa, modulate HCl secretion, and neutralize excess acid by binding free radicals in amlapitta.

Abhraka Bhasma (Mica Calx)

Abhraka Bhasma (Mica calx), a mineral calx, possesses katu-tikta (pungent-bitter) taste, sukshma-laghhu (subtle-light) property, and ushna virya (heating potency), pacifying Vata-Kapha and mildly aggravating Pitta. MIca calx is rich in silica, iron, magnesium oxides, and trace aluminosilicates, it scrapes ama from annavaha srotas (digestive channels), boosts digestive fire via enzymatic cofactors, and coats gastric lining to alleviate indigestion and sour eruptions.

Lauha Bhasma (Iron Calx)

Lauha Bhasma (Iron calx), a purified iron preparation, features madhura-kashaya (sweet-astringent) taste, guru-sukshma (heavy-subtle) property, and ushna virya (heating potency), primarily pacifying Vata-Kapha while supporting Pitta balance. Pathya (Terminalia chebula)

Method Of Preparation

Amlapittantaka Rasa is prepared via classical khalva yantra  (mortar and pestle) trituration: Shuddha Parad (Purified mercury, 1 part) is first levigated with Pathya (Terminalia chebula) (3 parts) until a smooth blackish paste forms, then Abhraka Bhasma- mica calx (1 part) and Lauha Bhasma- iron calx (1 part) are sequentially incorporated through vigorous grinding for 3-7 days. This trituration process ensures perfect amalgamation, activating yogavahi (catalytic adjuvant) properties. The homogenous mass is then rolled into 250 mg tablets and shade-dried for stability.

Medicinal Properties

Amlapittantak Ras pairs best with honey (Madhu) as anupana (adjuvant) for optimal Pitta shamaka effects, neutralizing hyperacidity, soothing Urodaha (chest burning), and restoring digestive fire through kindling the digestive fire and carminative actions.
