Kankayan Vati

Introduction

Kankayan Vati (Arsh) is known as one of the effective herbal formulations that is known to contain fruitful herbs. This formulation is known to have properties like laxative, carminative and many more. This is known to treat problems related to piles disorder.

Ingredients

  • Haritaki’s bark – Terminalia chebula
  • Maricha – Piper nigrum
  • Jeera – Cuminum cyminum
  • Pippali – Piper longum
  • Pippalamool – Piper longum (root)
  • Chavya – Piper retrofractum
  • Chitrak – Plumbago zeylanica
  • Sunthi – Zingiber officinale
  • Shuddha bhilava – Semecarpus anacardium
  • Jimikand – Amorphophallus campanulatus
  • Yavakshar – Hordeum vulgare
  • Gudda – Jaggery

Method of Preparation

  • Take the elements in their given proportion, haritaki bark up to 240 grams, maricha, jeera and pippali up to 48 grams, pippali mool up to 96 grams, chavya up to 144 grams, chitrak up to 168 grams, sonth upto 240 gms, shudha bhilava up to 384 grams, jimikand up to 768 grams and yavakshar up to 96 grams.
  • Powder all the ingredients and mix well.
  • Now take the jaggery which is double in the quantity than the herbs mixture.
  • Mix herbs powder mixture with jaggery.
  • Make pills by taking 500 mg of the powder.

Medicinal Properties

It is a poly herbal medicine which is available in tablet form. It is used in various disease conditions like piles, bloating, intestinal worms etc. The herbs used in this preparation are able to balance the kapha and vata doshas in the body and manage their related disorders. This medicine has various medicinal properties like carminative, gastric stimulant and laxative. It is very good medicine for the digestive system. It is used in the management of piles, both bleeding and non- bleeding piles. As per Ayurveda, the causative factors for piles include digestive weakness, constipation, tight clothes, sitting and riding on vehicle for long duration, suppression of normal urge of micturition, and defecation. It is very effective for a strong digestive system. It provides relief from constipation which is the main cause of piles. It reduces pressure and size of piles mass. Apart from these it is useful for abdominal lumps, extra growth, bloating, hemorrhoids, heart diseases, intestinal worms and excessive menstrual bleeding.

Dose

2 – 4 pills, two times a day with buttermilk.
