Introduction

Method Of Preparation

The seeds of Katu Tumbi (Lagenaria siceraria) and dry ginger are cleaned and finely powdered. These powders are triturated with a small quantity of Koshataki (Luffa acutangula) juice to prepare a smooth herbal paste (kalka). Sesame oil is taken in a suitable vessel and mixed with the prepared kalka and measured quantity of fresh Koshataki (Luffa acutangula) juice. The mixture is heated over mild fire following classical Sneha Paka (oil preparation) procedure. Continuous stirring is maintained to ensure uniform heating and proper integration of ingredients. Heating is continued until the liquid content evaporates and the oil exhibits classical signs of completion such as clarity, characteristic odor, and absence of moisture. After natural cooling, the medicated oil is filtered through clean cloth and stored in airtight glass containers.

1. Local Dressing – Sterile gauze soaked in medicated oil is applied over the affected area.
2. Wick Application – Oil-soaked wick is placed in the fistulous or sinus tract when indicated.
