Kutaj Ghan Vati - Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage

Reference: Siddha Yoga Sangraha, Atisara Pravahika Grahani Rogadhikara

Introduction

Kutaj Ghan Vati is an herbal formulation, in tablet from. It is useful in curing diarrhea, dysentery, intestinal infections and bleeding disorders etc. These tablets also provide relief in irritable bowel syndrome. Kutaj Ghan Vati has antidysenteric, antidiarrheal, anti-amoebic action and hemostatic properties.

Ingredients

  • Kutaj (Holarrhena antidysenterica)
  • Ativisha (Aconitum heterophyllum)

Method of Preparation

Boil Kutaj in 16 time water till just 1/8th part is remaining. Remove the decoction from flame and let it cool down and filter it through a muslin cloth. Cook it for some more time till it thickens. Let it dry under sunlight and add Ativisha powder. Make 175 mg tablets each and put it in the dryer till all the moisture is evaporated. Store it in an airtight container.

Medicinal Properties

Kutaj ghan vati is an ayurvedic medicine available in the tablet form. It is meant to manage the various digestive disorders. Natural ingredients used in the formulation of this medicine are packed with antimicrobial properties. In the diarrhea and dysentery use of this medicine is quite effective as it helps to extrude the microorganism from body. These tablets also help to manage the symptoms like abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, watery diarrhea with mucous or pus etc. It is quite good remedy to manage the problem of loose stools in fever. Use of this medicine is quite good in the malabsorption syndrome as it accelerate the absorption of nutrients in body and helps to fulfill the nutritional deficiencies in the body. Besides of all this, calmative and cooling action of this medicine helps to manage the rectal bleeding in ulcerative colitis.

Dosage

2 to 3 tablets thrice a day with plain water after meals.
