Mritasanjivani Sura - Benefits, Usage, Indications and Dosage

Mritasanjivani sura is a special liquid form Ayurvedic medicine which is basically an Asava preparation i.e. it consists of higher percentage of self-generated alcohol This product is addressed for its capability to help even a dying person. This is an Ayurvedic wine product. Compared to other Asava products, Mritasanjivani sura contains higher percentage of self-generated alcohol. It is also called as Mritasanjeevani arishta.

Method of Preparation

In water, jaggery (one year old jaggery) is dissolved and further coarsely powdered herbs Babbula Twak to Punarnava are added to it.

The mouth of the vessel is then covered with a lid, sealed and preserved in a heap of grains. After sixteen days powders of drugs from betel nut to white sandal powder are then added to the mixture and kept in a heap of grains for more 4 days. Thereafter, this is distilled in a Mayura Yantra/Baka Yantra or Mochika Yantra.


It is unique ayurvedic liquid medicines which is packed with various natural ingredients and having great medicinal importance. As its name indicates, it is helpful in dying person. It helps to improve the strength of digestive system and useful in the management of their related disorders like indigestion, anorexia and loss of appetite. It helps to gain weight by improving the appetite. It enhances the immunity and nourishes the body tissues. It is used in various digestive system disorders. It is very effective medicines to reduce the high fever and frequent gastroenteritis. It helps to restore the energy and strength of body in case of weakness. It also possess the aphrodisiac properties and libido booster. It is also used in women during postpartum period to reduce stress, depression and physical weakness. It brings the warmness in the body and helps to retain the water in the body. It is also used as bronchodilator which is helpful in cough and other respiratory problems like acute attacks of asthma.

Intake of Mritasanjivani sura is illegal, without any valid prescription by an Ayurvedic doctor. This product has to be taken always under strict medical supervision.

The maximum allowed percentage of alcohol in this product, as per Drugs and Cosmetics Act is - 16%

The maximum packing size allowed is 30 ml per bottle.


It is best to avoid this during pregnancy or lactation.
