Paranthyadi Thailam is an ayurvedic oil. It is a herbal formula and traditionally used in Ayurveda to remove dermatitis, spider bite etc. It is usually prepared in coconut oil. This herbal oil is used for the treatment of the wound caused by the bite of mandala, sarpa

  • Vacha (Acorus calamus)
  • Pata (Cissampelos perifera)
  • Daruharidra (Berberis aristata)
  • Eshwari (Aristolochia indica)
  • Hareetaki (Terminalia chebula)
  • Bibhitaki (Terminalia billerica)
  • Amalki (Emblica officinalis)
  • Madhuka (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
  • Shunthi (Zingiber officinale)
  • Ahiphena (Papaver somniferum)
  • Tamboola (Piper betel)

Description of Main Ingredients

  1. Coconut oil - It is an edible oil produced from the kernel of mature coconuts. This oil is popular for its pleasant aroma, taste, and powerful antioxidants. By consuming internally, it enhances strength and vitality, wound healing and relieves skin diseases like eczema, psoriasis. Coconut oil is valuable in pacifying Vata and Pitta Dosha while it increases Kapha dosha.
  2. Udumbara (Ficus racemosa) - Also known as cluster fig is used since ancient times. It is cold in potency and treats bleeding disorders instantly. It cures intestinal worms, alleviates Pitta and rakta, fatigue, burning sensation and thirst.
  3. Aswattha (Ficus religiosa) - This tree is also from vata kula. Its bark contains tannin,rubber,wax. This herb helps in to enhance complexion, wound healing, reducing pain and swelling and acts as haemostatic. It is also prescribed as an aphrodisiac.

Method Of Preparation

  • Crush the roots of Paranthi, Saptachakra - 48g each and add water in it.
  • Boil the mixture and reduced to 1/4th (decoction).
  • Add coconut oil 768ml + swarasa of Nimbu, Durva kalka of drugs  in decoction and boil it.
  • When whole water is evaporated and oil is left behind.Kept aside to cool.
  • Filter the oil and add Ahiphena, vibhitaka etc. should be added.

  • Insect bite
  • Snake bite
  • Dermatitis
  • Allergic skin disorders
  • Pruritus

Pharmacological Actions

  1. Anti-inflammatory
  2. Anti-microbial
  3. Anti-bacterial
  4. Anti-pruritic


  • It is used for external applications only.
  • Limited quantities of the taila can be used according to the wound and ulcers.
  • Kalka can also be applied on the wound.
  • This oil is advised to apply before bath.

Side Effects

  • Mainly no side effects are seen.
  • Pregnant women should use this oil only under doctor supervision.
