Swarna Chintamanai Ras – Medicinal Properties, Ingredients, Indications, Dosage & More
Reference : Ras yoga Sagar
Classical Indication : Jwara (fever)
Introduction
Fever is one of the most common clinical manifestations of disease and represents the body’s natural response to infection, inflammation, or internal imbalance. Medically, it is defined as a temporary rise in core body temperature, while Ayurveda describes fever (Jwara) as the foremost and most powerful disease, capable of affecting both body and mind. Globally, febrile illnesses account for a significant proportion of outpatient visits and hospital admissions, particularly in tropical and developing regions where infections such as malaria, dengue, typhoid, and viral fevers are highly prevalent. The prognosis of fever largely depends on its cause, duration, host immunity, and timeliness of treatment. Acute fevers with early intervention often resolve completely, whereas chronic, recurrent, or untreated fevers may lead to complications, debility, or systemic involvement. Thus, understanding fever as both a symptom and a disease entity is crucial for effective prevention, management, and recovery. In this article, we will discuss one such formulation which is classically indicated in Fever ie. Swarna Chintamanai Ras.

Indications / Uses
Chintamani Rasa is a powerful rejuvenative and digestive formulation. It is useful in all types of fever, chronic fever, intermittent fever, tuberculosis-related fever, old and stubborn diseases, wasting disorders, psychic disorders, epilepsy, insanity, infectious conditions, demonic afflictions (as per classical terminology), and toxic conditions. It alleviates various poisons such as plant toxins, artificial poisons, and accumulated toxins. It provides strength comparable to youth even in elderly individuals. It is especially effective in Vata, Pitta, and Kapha disorders when administered with proper anupana (vehicle) and due caution. In chronic diseases and Rajayakshma (tuberculosis), this formulation acts like nectar. In all fevers, purification of the digestive system (Udar shodhana) is essential first. If mala (waste), ama, or toxic matter remains in the gut, fever persists. Therefore, ingredients like Ushira rasa, Jamalgota, Nishotha, Dantimula, Gokshura, and Kakshi Tunbi are included to eliminate toxins. To destroy toxins, pus, microbes, and to normalize deranged tissues, mercury, sulfur, Swarna bhasma, and ratna (gem) preparations are added. These also strengthen the brain and heart. Due to this comprehensive action, Chintamani Rasa shows remarkable benefits in various stages of disease.
Note- Due to its rapid action, it is called Chintamani. Classical texts consider it suitable even for royal consumption.
Clinical Use
1. In Pyemia (Blood-Borne Infection)
When pus enters the bloodstream, recurrent chills and high fever occur 2–3 times daily, accompanied by sweating. Along with external treatment, intake of Chintamani Rasa provides relief within a few days. If pus enters blood due to kidney abscess, appropriate renal-cleansing medicines should be administered simultaneously. However, in severe renal abscess cases, prolonged use of this rasa is not advisable.
2. In Septic Poisoning
When toxins spread in blood (within 10–15 days of wound injury), bluish-red patches appear at different sites, with severe pain in muscles and joints. Due to intense pain, fever, dehydration, and stiffness may develop. In such septic conditions, Chintamani Rasa is highly beneficial.
3. In Rat-Bite Fever
In Rat-bite fever, giving Chintamani Rasa along with Punarnavadhak or Raktashodhak Arka or Munjadi Arka for 3–4 days helps to alleviate severe pain.
4. In Rajyakshma (Tuberculosis)
In Rajyakshma (tuberculosis), some patients experience more intense reactions of microbial toxins and pus, which causes prolonged fever and weakness. In such patients, giving Chintamani Rasa in small doses for a few days helps control the toxins, reduce fever, and restore strength, making it easier to follow other treatments.
Dose
1–2 pills, along with 8–12 grains of Kalimirch powder and 3–4 masha of fresh Bhringraj juice, twice daily (morning and evening).
Conclusion
In the end, Swarn Chintamani Ras, a classical Ayurvedic herbo-mineral formulation, demonstrates significant potential in supporting the management of fever due to its immunomodulatory and rejuvenating properties. The synergistic action of purified gold (Swarna Bhasma), along with other potent minerals and herbs, helps balance aggravated doshas, enhance metabolic function, and strengthen the body’s natural resistance. Its bioactive constituents aid in reducing inflammation, improving vitality, and promoting overall wellness. When used judiciously under expert guidance, Swarn Chintamani Ras not only addresses the symptomatic burden of fever but also nurtures the body’s resilience, offering a holistic approach to recovery.
