Vrisha Ghritam

Introduction

Vrisha Ghritam is an herbal medicine in the form of clarified butter. It is primarily used for treating respiratory diseases. It is also known as Vrisha Ghrita.

Ingredients

  • Vasa (Adhatoda vasica)

Method of Preparation

The herb is thoroughly cleaned and the parts used of this herb are the leaves, leaf sprouts and root. The juice is extracted. The flower is made into bolus and added to the clarified butter. It is then heated till the herb is completely infused in the clarified butter and its herbal form is prepared. It should thereafter be stored in a clean container in a cool, dry place.

Medicinal Properties

An Ayurvedic herbal ghee preparation which is made using natural ingredients and the main ingredient is Vasa. It has great medicinal properties which is used in various ailments like asthma, cough, cold etc. It helps to balance the tridoshas and manage their related disorders. This formulation has expectorant properties and is very effective for all respiratory ailments. It has bronchodilator, respiratory stimulant, antioxidant properties which contribute to words healthy respiratory system. In cardiac disorders, it helps to lowers the blood pressure and improve the functioning of heart. Apart from these it is useful for blood disorders (raktapitta) and hernia (pitta based gulma), cardiac problems, jaundice, skin disorders, loss of voice etc. It is also good for preparatory procedure i.e. Purvakarma of Panchkarma therapy.

Dosage

2 to 10 ml herbal clarified butter is taken with warm water twice daily before meals.

Contraindications

  • This formulation can lower the blood glucose level so it should be given to diabetic patients with care.
  • It should be taken under strict medical supervision in children, pregnant and lactating mothers.
Note:- This is pure classical Ayurvedic medicine and should be strictly consumed only after prescription of an Ayurvedic doctor and to be taken under medical supervision only.
