INTRODUCTION

Yavakshar is a formulation which is alkaline and is prepared from barley [Yava] which comprises of potassium carbonate. It helps in treating urinary disorders, abdominal disorders. This formulation acts as a diuretic and also induces perspiration. It helps in balancing Vata and Kapha Doshas. It is also very useful in Non – Cancerous prostate enlargement.

INGREDIENTS

Dried 5 parts of barley.

METHOD OF PREPARATION

Clean and dry the entire barley plant and put it in an iron pan and let the plant burn down to ashes. Let it cool down. Collect the product and add 4 times water in it and mix it well. Strain it through a muslin cloth in an iron container and keep them overnight. Filter the liquid floating on the surface over a precipitate into a clean container and repeat this process thrice. Heat this filtrate over low flame till the entire water content gets evaporated. After this process, white colored product is obtained which is then stored in a sealed jar.

DOSAGE

125 mg to 500 mg before meals orally or applied externally as advised by your doctor.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • It should be avoided by males getting treatment for infertility as it can affect the sperm production.
  • Over dosage might cause a burning sensation.
  • People who are emaciated, exerted should avoid this formulation.
