Review of Planet Ayurveda in Basti, Uttar Pradesh | Case Study #27

Basti is a district, and is a nice city known as Vaishishthi town. This name came from the ashram (residence) of Rishi Vaishisth, where even Lord Rama and his younger brother Laxman did spend some time living with the Rishi. Mostly it was all jungles during the ancient times but later got inhabited. During the famous mutiny of 1857, the British hanged 250 people from the Peepal trees located at Chhawani, also falls in district Basti.

It was here that a doctor in his mid 30’s called Dr. Agwat Khan was infected by chikungunya, with many people thinking that this disease is due to eating chicken or has been transported by the poultry products as its name suggests. In fact this word comes from Kimakonde language, ‘chikungunya’, which means ‘becoming contorted’ because a person begins stooping due to pain in his/her joints. He went to a local doctor who diagnosed his blood and the symptoms clearly pointed at chikungunya. He said, “Nothing to worry my dear friend, we both have the same profession and I’ll sort out your problem within no time.” And he gave him an injection and some other medicines. Dr. Khan returned home and began taking the medicines as prescribed.

After a few days the medicines did show some effects in a negative way. His kidney got infected. Initially pain began in his kidney area and he felt that he was losing appetite and his urine has turned red in color, though occasionally. He felt a burning sensation when he used to urinate and a nasty odor emitted from his urine. He panicked and had a word with his wife, “What went wrong with me? I just had chikungunya and look at how the medicine has reacted, even I am a doctor and I feel that my kidney has got infected.” She was totally aghast and looked anxiously towards her hubby and said, “Why don’t you try some good city doctor. The very next day he packed his luggage and left all alone and his wife insisted, “If the disease is to simple do tell me, if its serious do tell us again and I’ll catch a train and reach New Delhi.” “No, right now you take care of our kids and my parents. Everything will be fine as New Delhi has lots of hospitals, one of these will eliminate my disease.”She came to the railway station to see him off. The train was a few minutes late and she was almost sobbing and kept insisting to give her daily report on her mobile. “OK fine I’ll do that” assuring her he boarded the train and waived his hand and said goodbye. The next day he reached New Delhi and after hiring an auto went to his uncle’s place. He already had told him about his disease and the uncle had welcomed him to his house. They had fixed an appointment on the next day for seeing a doctor in a renowned hospital.

The next day both went to see the doctor who did various tests and prescribed the medicines. His treatment plans kept stretching and turned into a long process of healing, but was never satisfied with the results for a whole year. But he was a brave man and knew that he will be able to tackle this menace very soon. ‘Fortune favors the brave’ this line came true in his case. The clinic opens at 9:30am sir.”

The day after tomorrow he reached Planet Ayurveda in May, 2018, and was impressed after seeing the huge rush. The people had come from far flung places, there were some foreigners too. He reached the reception and the lady asked him to wait as the doctors served all patients on a first come, first serve basis. He sat with the already waiting patients and waited for his turn which came at 12:30pm and he entered the doctor’s room. After the greetings he showed them the disease related papers and various labs tests done and also narrated his family history. His urea count was 150 and his creatinine level was 9.9, a little too high. The doctors scrutinized the whole papers very keenly and after some discussion with themselves turned towards Dr. Agwat Khan and said, “Look Sir, you need to follow the prescription strictly or you will not get the desired results. And take Revive Kidneys Pack and note down the diets that you have to consume and which one to avoid. And continue having your allopathic treatment, gradually decline its dosage, but never give up abruptly, your body might not be able to adjust accordingly.” He noted all the prescription on his mobile and asked the doctor, “Sir how much long will it take to get complete treatment?” “It all depends on the patient’s body. He got up and reached the pharmacy, which is situated within the premises and left after having the pack headed towards his home, Basti in UP. Only after a fortnight his happiness did show when he called the reception as all the symptoms had begun showing his health improve.

He has already started feeling better and singing the songs by praising this pair of doctors that have got rid of this disease.
