Chirbilvadi Taila
(चिरबिल्वादि तैलम्)
Introduction
Chirbilvadi Taila is a classical Ayurvedic medicated oil indicated primarily for Arsha (piles), Charmakila (skin tags/warts), Shopha (inflammatory swelling), and Kandu (pruritus). The formulation is distinctive due to its combination of Tikshna (sharp), Kshara-like herbal juices (alkali), Gomutra (cow urine), and Rasa–Uparasa dravyas, making it especially potent for Kapha-Vata predominant disorders involving abnormal tissue growth, chronic inflammation, and skin manifestations. The Taila (oil) is intended exclusively for external application, where it acts locally to resolve pathological tissue changes and reduce associated symptoms.

Method Of Preparation
The Kalka dravyas are prepared carefully following the classical order of trituration. First, Pārada is triturated with Gandhaka to prepare Kajjali, followed by the sequential addition of Tuttha (Copper sulphate), Haratala (Orpiment), Manahshila (Realgar), Tankana (borax), and Saindhava Lavana (rock salt). The remaining herbal Kalka dravyas are then incorporated to obtain a uniform paste. Separately, Sarjarasa and Madhucchista (beeswax) are gently melted and mixed with the prepared Kalka. This Kalka is combined with Murcchita Tila Taila (sesame oil) and all Drava dravyas (liquid herbs) in a stainless steel vessel and cooked over mild heat until the Taila attains proper Siddhi Lakshanas (signs of prepared oil). After cooling, the oil is filtered and stored in airtight glass bottles.
