Kokilakshadi Kwath

Reference: Bhaishajya Ratnavali

Introduction

Kokilakshadi Kwath is an herbal formulation which is useful in treating Vata disorders. It is available in the form of tablets or in liquid form.

Ingredients

  • Talmakhana (Hydrophilia)
  • Tinospora (Tinospora cordifolia)
  • Peepar churna (Piper longum)

Method of Preparation

Make a decoction of Talmakhana and Tinospora and add powdered long pepper in it. Store it in an airtight container away from heat and light.

Dosage

Take 5 to 10 ml or 2 tablets, before meals, two times daily. When available in concentrated form add equal amount of water to it.

Indications

  • Gout
  • Joint pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Inflammatory disorders

Contraindications

  • There are no reported side effects of this medicine.
  • Patients with diabetes should take it under strict medical supervision for a short period of time.
