Chirangina Taila
(चिरङ्गिन तैलम् / पिटिकासु तैलम्)
Introduction
Chirangina Taila is a classical Ayurvedic medicated oil described specifically for the management of Pidaka (eruptive skin lesions), particularly in children (Bala avastha). The formulation is unique in its method of preparation and ingredient selection, emphasizing Tikta–Katu rasa (bitter and pungent taste), Ushna virya (hot potency), and Kaphahara–Raktashodhaka (kapha pacifying and blood cleansing) properties. Unlike conventional Sneha Kalpana, this Taila employs a distinctive fermentation–expression technique followed by Sneha Paka (oil preparation), enhancing the extraction of active principles from plant leaves. It is indicated both for external application and internal use under supervision, especially in pediatric eruptive conditions associated with Kapha-Pitta vitiation, mild infection, and skin inflammation.

Composition
Kalka Dravyas
- Saphala Gunja Patra (Abrus precatorius – Fertile Gunja leaves) – 640 g
- Nishphala Gunja Patra (Abrus precatorius – Sterile Gunja leaves) – 640 g
- Krishna Kamboji Patra (Ipomoea obscura – Black bindweed) – 640 g
- Nili Patra (Indigofera tinctoria – True indigo) – 640 g
- Chincha Patra (Tamarindus indica – Tamarind leaves) – 640 g
- Krishna Lavana (Black salt) – 160 g
- Narikela Majja (Cocos nucifera – Coconut pulp from eight fruits) – quantity sufficient
Drava Dravya
- Karishin Svarasa – quantity sufficient
Method Of Preparation
All Kalka Dravyas are finely chopped and triturated together to form a smooth paste. The prepared mass is shaped into a bolus (pinda), wrapped securely with Chinaluka leaves, tied with clean threads, and kept undisturbed for approximately two and a half days to facilitate controlled fermentation and extraction. After this period, the bolus is pressed thoroughly to extract the liquid essence. The expressed liquid is then mixed with Karishin Svarasa and subjected to gentle heating until classical Taila Paka Siddhi Lakshanas are observed. After proper cooking, the oil is filtered carefully and stored in clean, airtight glass containers.

Conclusion
Chirangina Taila represents a specialized and sophisticated Ayurvedic formulation tailored for pediatric eruptive skin disorders. Its distinctive preparation technique, involving fermentation, expression, and subsequent Sneha Paka, enhances the bioavailability of potent herbal constituents. The synergistic action of Gunja (Abrus precatorius), Nili (Indigofera tinctoria), Krishna Kamboji (Ipomoea obscura), Chincha (Tamarindus indica), and Krishna Lavana imparts strong Kaphahara (kapha alleviation), Pittashamana (pitta pacification), and Rakta-shodhaka (blood cleansing) effects, making it particularly effective in managing Pidaka (skin eruptions) in children. When administered judiciously according to classical guidelines, Chirangina Taila serves as a valuable therapeutic option for both internal and external management of childhood skin eruptions, reflecting the depth and precision of traditional Ayurvedic pharmaceutics.
